As the weather warms up the ASU is getting out there talking about Heat & Air Quality - from Mildura to Maribyrnong.

Working in the heat carries risk, so for information on how to work safer check out these handy resources. Heat: bit.ly/2HFctci & Air Quality: bit.ly/3o4CPUN

Talk to your Health & Safety Representative or your ASU organiser about how to get the best safety standards in place. #staysafe

ASU members win at Mount Alexander Shire

Local Government in-home aged care workers provide an essential service. They are often the difference between older people staying in their communities or moving into residential aged care.

They have been under extra pressure during the pandemic because their elderly clients are vulnerable to Covid-19. But at Mount Alexander Shire, until ASU delegates got involved, there was no additional time even to change face masks between clients. These champions kept their clients safe – but it was all in their own time.

ASU delegates Sam Jones, Lucinda Banks & Fiona McInnes took up the issue & have won a paid time of 5 minutes for each mask change.

And they even got the time in-home aged care workers had spent keeping their clients safe on their own time reimbursed by the council.
