Negotiations continue around the new Melbourne Water Agreement. Progress has been frustratingly slow, all the more so given that Government wouldn’t allow the parties to start bargaining until after the existing agreement had expired.

The ASU continues to push hard on the log items that our members are seeking.

Some ground has been gained with Melbourne Water Agreeing to the following ASU claims;

  • Extending Compassionate Leave to five days
  • Superannuation to be paid on paid parental leave
  • No requirement for medical certificates for single-day absences before or after weekends or public holidays

However, most of the key items remain not agreed. In particular, the State Government (and therefore Melbourne Water) appear to be holding firm on capping annual pay increases at 2%.

We will continue the fight, and to keep members updated of any progress.
