Bargaining has been going for some time now, your ASU bargaining team have been consistently working away to put your claims across to Council. While covid and absences inevitably have an impact, bargaining has proceeded at a frustratingly and unacceptably slow pace. We have had to make a case for minute keeping, request agendas and to date Council have not tabled their own log of claims. This has meant there has been a lack of clarity on Council’s position on some key matters.

Maroondah Council’s current pay offer is:

  • 1.5% October 2021 to June 2022 (back paid)
  • 1.75% July 2022 to June 2023 – (backpaid to July 2022)
  • July 2023 2% or 85% of the council adopted rate cap whichever is the greater
  • July 2024 2% or 85% of the council adopted rate cap whichever is the greater

This is slightly improved following ASU feedback.

However, wages are only part of the picture and other claims need to be considered alongside it. Your ASU bargaining group will continue to progress outstanding claims and clauses so we can come back to members with a clear idea of what council is offering altogether and the implications for you so you can provide informed feedback. We will send out more detail shortly.

We will be holding an ASU members meeting next Wednesday with a brief initial update about the progress of negotiations. More details here:
