Mansfield Shire asked for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to vary our current agreement. This would extend it by 12 months. We would then have time to consolidate the next Enterprise Agreement, (EA). The ASU were in agreement for this to happen. The MOU was then put to us and with an offer of a flat rate of $22.50.
At meetings held at two sites it was a unanimous decision to not accept the offer of $22.50. Members want the same rate as last year: 2% or $25.00 whichever is greater. We put the ASU concerns to management. We stated we do not accept that offer and would like to commence the bargaining for the EA.
Management is now saying they will pay all staff $22.50 regardless of no agreement to the MOU. The ASU is challenging this and getting legal advice.
Through this process, we will keep you informed.
