On Monday, the Premier announced the start of rolling back COVID-19 restrictions. Provided that infection rates do not increase we would expect to see a further easing of restrictions in the coming weeks and months.
The next announcement by the Premier is due on 31 May.
There was very little consultation at most workplaces when the initial restrictions were put in place including the closure of some workplaces.
Your employer has a legal obligation under the Occupational Health & Safety Act to consult with Health & Safety Representatives and staff on matters that affect your health and safety including re-opening workplaces or easing restrictions.
They may also have obligations under your enterprise agreement, including discussions with the staff consultative committee.
We need to ensure that ASU delegates, HSR’s & members are consulted and involved in the development of risk assessments before any further changes are made by management.
