Chris Buckingham will be attending the meeting representing Public Libraries Victoria to brief you all on the new Libraries Change Lives pandemic recovery submission.
The ASU is currently a supporter of Libraries Change Lives, but this meeting will allow you to ask questions about the campaign and put forward your thoughts about what is needed to support public libraries during the recovery.
New Restrictions in Regional Victoria
Stage 3 restrictions have started in regional Victoria and are no doubt causing anxiety.
With libraries closing there will inevitably be concerns about job security, so staff are asked to contact your ASU Organiser immediately if you are concerned about the prospect of stand-downs or job losses.
New Restrictions in Metro Melbourne
Stage 4 restrictions have started in Metro Melbourne, and you no doubt have many questions about what that means.
We are still concerned about grey areas in the document that has been provided by DHHS which includes what services libraries can deliver, and we have heard reports of employers having a differing approach to things like book delivery and chute clearing.
Please talk to your ASU Organiser about what services are closing and what are being provided, we’re also asking all ASU members to think about possible redeployment opportunities to limit stand-downs.
