June is Pride Month, and Port Phillip Library Service is planning a fierce and fabulous series of events to celebrate our beloved LGBTQIA+ community!
As many of you know, library and council workers across Melbourne have recently been subject to highly orchestrated attacks, abuse and harassment by far-right fringe groups for hosting events like these.
As library workers and ASU members, we are committed to standing up to these attacks and ensuring our libraries remain safe and inclusive spaces for all members of our community.
At the same time, ensuring each and every worker feels safe, supported, and staunch, throughout Pride Month is paramount.
Join us to discuss:
- How you can contribute to making Pride Month as fabulous as can be
- What safety protocols, support networks, and emergency contacts we need in place to assist workers
- Strategies for cooperating with council and other organisations to prevent the pre-emptive/unnecessary cancellation of our events
You can attend in person or online.
