On Monday 22 March your ASU bargaining representatives met with LCC management to talk about your claims for a new agreement. These include:
- Gaining improvements on Councils duty of obligation regarding your health and safety
- Improved employment security by seeking limitations on the use of labour hire and outsourcing
- Ensuring you are consulted appropriately on all matters that may affect you
- Improved leave provisions
Alarmingly LCC have advised that their wages offer is 1%, inclusive of the superannuation guarantee, effectively reducing the wage increase to .5%. In addition, they advised that they do not intend to negotiate on this figure and have asked ASU for an alternative position.
The ASU has made it clear that not only do we not agree with the process that LCC is undertaking we believe it is far too early to ask members for an alternative position. Particularly given we have only once met to discuss the claims and LCC are yet to respond to them all.
LCC’s approach to this bargaining only highlights why it is vital that everyone is a member of their Union, ASU, and stands together.
Membership meetings will be held in the coming weeks to discuss LCC response.
Your representatives at the bargaining table are:
Cindy O’Connor and Joanne McEvoy (ASU Organisers)
This is your agreement that will set your wages and conditions into the future, ensure your voice is heard!
Please speak with your workmates who are not yet members of our union about joining the ASU today. It’s easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
