The SCC is a vital and proactive function within Council, it provides a structured forum for open communication between Council and the workforce around ensuring the Agreement, policies and procedures and proposed changes are discussed with workers.

This committee can only truly function at its optimum if there is adequate representation and input from workers across all divisions of council. Policies, procedures and organisational change could potentially have different effects on different workgroups. That is why a cross-section of council is needed.

Kingston Councils have called on nominations for the SCC and it is strongly encouraged that ASU members and delegates nominate.

These meetings take place on paid time and you will have the support of your ASU organiser.

The only way we can improve the workplace culture is by actively participating and influencing change.
