The voting period for your enterprise agreement is now open – representatives urge all employees to vote NO this week, every vote matters.
Questions from recent meetings and visits:
Who can vote?
ALL Kingston Council employees are eligible to vote. We need at least 50% of votes against the offer.
How can I vote?
By now you should have received an email with instructions for how to vote. Those without email should’ve received information via post. If you haven’t received voting instructions yet, reach out to the ASU or council ASAP.
Can Kingston Council see how I vote?
No. Voting is anonymous and run by an external company.
What happens if we win the No Vote?
A strong No Vote outcome sends a clear message to council that their offer isn’t acceptable and forces them back to the bargaining table. Some members raised concerns that a No vote meant an end to bargaining, that you wouldn’t have an EA or that there would be no pay rises at all and Council could refuse to continue bargaining. This is not the case. Even though your EA has expired it will still apply and there are now more options to push back on an unfair offer. Council needs to bargain with us in good faith and we can go to the FWC if this does not happen.
Employees should feel confident to have their say. Reach out to one of your delegates or contact our Member Contact Centre if you have any issues or questions.
