Earlier this week the ASU had a ‘bargaining dispute’ dealt with by Deputy President Mansini in the Fair Work Commission.
This was due to the fact that a ‘Final Draft’ was provided to the ASU and the other unions last Wednesday with the City of Kingston wanting to go to a vote of employees ASAP.
For its part, the ASU argued that there simply wasn’t enough time to check and double-check the contents of a 213 page document that was reformatted into a ‘consolidated document’ that is 84 pages in length.
As a result of these proceedings, the following has been agreed upon:
- ASU are to be given extra time to review the tracked ‘Final Draft’ document and provide a position in response to both the City of Kingston and DP Mansini by Monday the 9th of September, 2019;
- the ASU and the City of Kingston will return to the FWC before DP Mansini at 10:30 AM on Wednesday the 11th of September, 2019;
- there will be a further meeting chaired by DP Mansini at the City of Kingston on Monday the 16th of September, 2019; and,
- it is likely that a proposed Enterprise Agreement will be provided to employees during an ‘access period’ starting on Friday the 20th of September, 2019.
ASU delegates and members are not just concerned about the lack of process here, there is a fundamental disagreement about what your management have offered you in this bargaining round.
ASU members continue to fight for a fair wage increase and leave arrangements that reflect what staff at adjoining councils receive.
Please note that the City of Kingston have put forward a weekly wage offer of 2.3% or $35.00 (whichever is the greater) Per Year for a Four Year Agreement (the ASU prefers a Three Year Agreement).
The breakdown of the 1st Year wage offer can be found here. Please note that the point where the percentage starts and the flat-rate increase stops is at Band 5D and that this table also includes estimates for various percentage increases (4%/3%/2%).
