Bargaining for your enterprise agreement has now concluded with no further movement from management on your wage offer or other conditions.

Council’s wage offer is 2.5% each year for 3 years.

The only other entitlements that Council agreed to provide are:

  • increase in Compassionate Leave from 3 days to 5 days
  • 1 week’s additional Annual Leave for employees permanently appointed to the On-Call Roster

In contrast, Council wants to remove a very important entitlement from you – the current additional Superannuation that you receive.  Council wants to absorb the legislated Government increases to superannuation and not maintain your 3% gap.  By the end of this new Enterprise Agreement, you will only receive 1.5% above the minimum legal contribution.  Further, nearly half of the other Tasmanian Councils have committed to continue paying their employees above the SGC.

Additionally, Council has refused to commit to reviewing the indoor classifications over the life of the agreement, instead stating they “may” review the classifications.  This does not reflect what was discussed during bargaining.

Disturbingly, Council also plans to replace your current ASU best practice Family & Domestic Violence Leave clause with the award clause.  Your current clause includes Individual Support which provides much needed safety protections at work.

This is your Agreement and your hard fought conditions. It should be an improvement on the bare legal minimum Award, not stripped back.
