The ASU has been engaging with the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) regarding Council responses to the illegal dumping of asbestos.
ASEA has commissioned some research which they will use to develop a toolkit for local governments across Australia.
They are interested in hearing from ASU members and HSRs regarding:
interventions council may be running to prevent illegal dumping and other improper disposal of asbestos – what prompted council to bring in the intervention, how it has been funded, how successful it is proving, perceptions of how the intervention could be improved, anything about implementation that other councils could learn from etc.
If you have specific and direct experience with any of these matters, please contact ASU Organiser Clay O’Brien via the contact details below.
Members need to be willing to be interviewed by the ASEA’s research partner, Heartward. The interview would be conducted via telephone and take approximately 10-20 minutes. This interview would occur within the next 10 days.
