Bargaining for your new enterprise agreement (EA) has reached an impasse. Council have made the bad decision of putting the EA out to a vote without agreement from your ASU bargaining team.

You will shortly receive a copy of the proposed EA before any vote takes place, (access period). Your union delegates and officials have been working on the EA for months, unfortunately, this final EA being put to vote is not agreed on. It doesn’t meet the pay increase that you unanimously voted for at mass meetings held earlier this year. It is vital that you send a message to Council and Vote No!

We have made some improvements, but the pay increase is not good enough:

  • No movement on the pay offer – despite a very conservative 3% counter-offer being put on the table by ASU members. Council have rejected it. Their offer is 1.5% with an extra 0.3% if we reduce WorkCover claims by 27% over the 4-year agreement, an unachievable KPI.
  • ASU Delegates will be consulting members about making a Fair Work application for a Protected Industrial Action Ballot. This will enable members to put on work bans to put pressure on management to get a better deal.

Once the EA ballot papers arrive, it’s really important that you take the time to vote and clearly select the NO box. It’s also critical to talk to other staff in your area about why it’s important that they vote NO. Every staff member gets a vote, not just ASU members. We can’t begin to turn this around without at least 50% of votes against the offer.
