Housing & Homelessness ERO funding Crisis
$20 Million shortfall just in Victoria
Following the handing down of the federal budget late last year it became apparent that the federal government had not allocated money for the ongoing costs of the equal remuneration order ( ERO ) to the state and federal partnership agreement for housing and homelessness services.
This means that just in Victoria there is a $20 Mil funding shortfall in funding for housing and homelessness programs funded under the partnership agreement. This despite the commitment by every state and territory government, along with federal programs funded from the Department of social Services announcing that they would pass on the ERO funding on an ongoing basis.
We will discuss this matter further at the ASU housing & Homelessness meeting to be held tomorrow, Thursday 4 March 2021 at 5:30 pm.
You can register to join the meeting here https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZctfuGoqTsoG9MuosCSzNThByZ1mOXX-Iaw
Please also encourage your colleagues to join the meeting and to join the ASU at www.asuvictas.com.au
Despite our best efforts to get an explanation why this partnership funding is being treated differently to other funding streams we have had not response from the Morrison government.
The ASU are working with peak bodies to roll out a campaign to get the Morrison government to immediately announce that they will fund your ERO increases as of 1 July 2021 and avoid the inevitable job losses.
