Home Care Packages Campaign
At the request of your delegates earlier this year, the ASU has been lobbying councils about taking up Home Care Packages. See the ASU’s Home Care Packages policy document that has been sent to all councillors here.

Federal Aged Care Reforms
The Department of Health is still slowly releasing details on what the new aged care system will look like. On November 24 they uploaded the recording of the ‘Commonwealth Home Support Programme 2022-23 extension webinar’ which included a little more detail on the new system. It confirms the move to a user-pay system of care, with additional assistance for regional and remote areas, continued block funding for particular programs, and new unit prices to guide federal government contributions – plus other information. It can be found here.

Would you like to see no less than 2 hours of work as a minimum standard across your industry?
The ASU is seeking to vary the Local Government Award 2015 so casuals can be hired for no less than 2hrs, however, local government bodies are objecting! Do you know of casuals who would benefit from these minimum hours? Do you already have provisions in your EA where casuals are hired at a minimum of 2 hours? Those objecting are saying it wouldn’t work in home care. Let’s prove them wrong.

If you think your council fits these descriptions, contact Deeana Predic at the ASU to talk more about what you can do by Dec 15 2021 – dpredic@asuvictas.com.au or 0448 981 585
