Thanks to everyone who attend the home care delegates committee meeting last night.

We had upwards of 30 delegates on the line which was a bright spot on an otherwise bad news day.

We will be sending a newsletter out to all members later today with more detail and a snap survey to provide data for our Royal Commission submissions.

We have three questions better answered by delegates. Your responses will also help us better represent you in discussions with the government and your employers.

You can answer the three question here

Issues discussed at our meeting were;

  • Use of masks
  • Federal MPs support for retention bonus and home care workers
  • Number of workers who have taken leave or left the industry due to COVID
  • Number of home carers who work for multiple employers
  • Reduction of hours of work
  • What would a possible stage 4 look like?

An all Home Care members meeting will be held at 4.00pm on the 12 August. Save the date and invite all your members.

The ASU is always looking for stories from clients about why they love your care, particularly if they no longer receive Council services. Please contact Tuffy or Jane if you have a story or would like to participate in meetings with Members of Parliament.

Your care and work as delegates representing this critical workforce has never been more important – keep up the great work!

Your membership is your strength, know someone who is not a member? Don’t forget the ASU recruitment competition is underway until September, $500 is up for grabs for the member who recruits the most new members.
