EBA Update
The ASU wrote to management on 7 July outlining member expectations for a 2-year agreement. EBA bargaining representatives met again last week.

Despite having 5 weeks to respond, management brought nothing of substance to the meeting, instead asked us to choose between:

Option 1

  • A memorandum of understanding with a cash payment until 30 June 2021

Option 2

  • Use the consolidated EBA as a base
  • Cash payment in lieu of back pay (no increase for 2019)
  • 2 x X% increases: 1 July 2020 + 1 July 2021
  • Operational for 2 years after approval

We already advised that members preferred a 2-year agreement, and how can we respond when neither option includes what the payments would be? Our next meeting will be early September after Council pass their budget.

We know you’re frustrated by the inaction; we are too, but hopefully, the CEO will have more to say then!
