After scheduling a meeting last Thursday, management still had not prepared the draft agreement to table so the meeting was postponed until Friday 14 February for bargaining reps to review the document and respond.
We know this is tiring, and we’re sure many of you are getting sick of the constant delays and stonewalling from the ‘leaders’ at HBCC. We know this because it’s a common strategy used by bad bosses to wear down their staff into accepting sub-standard EBA offers.
You can’t let them win!
There’s no escaping this is a poor offer. The latest details from management show staff would be completely without a pay increase for 2020, working out to only a 1.6% average increase over five years! This will affect your salary for the rest of your career at Hobsons Bay, and all future employee salaries FOREVER by dropping the salary rates in the EBA.
No amount of back-pay or sign-on bonus will make this okay, especially not what their offering!
They told us they would not be changing their mind about taking away your end of band leave, but by union members standing together, they had no choice. Now they’re telling us that they won’t be offering you the kinds of pay increases you deserve, and we’ll only change their mind by continuing to stand together and oppose this.
The EBA cannot come into effect until YOU say it can.
