Following 2 strong No Votes and requests by the Unions, and Peter Warmbrunn, to recommence bargaining, we also were sent a copy of the General Manager’s memo in relation to his decision to unilaterally cease bargaining.
Clearly, the Council does not understand democracy or the Enterprise Bargaining Process.
We have since written again to management to advise Council that the General Manager’s decision goes against the principles of Good Faith Bargaining and that our members cannot accept such an outcome. We requested a bargaining meeting be scheduled as soon as possible. Failing this we will apply to the Fair Work Commission for bargaining orders as well as Protected Industrial Action!
Council cannot simply ignore a majority vote!
It is now time to take action! We will attempt to organise meetings to meet with members in relation to the next steps.
