There have been two recent and significant announcements by the federal government relating to aged care.
In a huge win for union members a commitment has been made to fund the Fair Work decision which will result in a 15% wage increase for workers under the Award.
However, it’s important to note that while aged care members employed in Local Government already earn more than 15% higher than the Award, councils may still receive the funding boost from the Government. If they do, we will all need to fight for it be passed on to you. This won’t result in a 15% pay increase for LG aged care members, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get some extra money in your pocket – jump onto the meeting to hear more.
Also, the recent budget announcement regarding the Support at Home (SaH) reforms being delayed until 2025 is a clear sign that our efforts to preserve Local Government delivered aged care is far from over. There’s still a lot of work to be done but we will continue fighting, but we need to discuss where that fight goes from here.
We need you support now more than ever to keep up the fight.
You are invited to an online meeting to discuss the campaign and what steps we can take to keep up the pressure.
