The campaign will highlight the damage caused by underfunding of council services, including its impact on ASU members and our communities.

In recent years we have seen the damage caused by insufficient funding of local government:

  • Services cut or privatised
  • Increases in insecure work; and
  • Unfair wage offers that are tied to the Rate Cap.

We have seen services stretched to breaking point and ASU members have had enough.

All council workers are invited to join the ASU and get involved with our campaign.

The first phase of Crisis on the Frontline will highlight the role of ASU members in their community. We are therefore seeking stories and examples of ASU members going above and beyond.

Union members know we are stronger and better off when we work together. As we embark upon a major campaign for better funding, secure jobs and fair wage increases, please talk to colleagues about the benefits of ASU membership and encourage them to join the ASU.

For further information, or if you are unable to attend a meeting but want to hear about the campaign please contact:

We’re stronger when we stand together.
