The ASU has received concerns from members regarding an email that was sent to employees from Julie Heath informing employees that Council has an expectation that residential aged care staff are vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine and requested that employees provide evidence this has occurred by June 11, 2021.

We have raised your concerns with Mary-Anne Palatsides, Executive Manager People and Culture, who has advised that it is not compulsory or a directive that employees in residential aged care must be vaccinated and reaffirmed it is only being recommended employees do so.

However, we were advised that this decision may be reviewed sometime in the future and Council may decide to make the vaccination compulsory.

The ASU legal team are looking into our members’ rights if Council in the future does move to make the vaccination compulsory and will provide this advice to our members accordingly.

If you are being pressured or advised that it is compulsory then please reach out to the ASU so we can assist you further.

By encouraging your workmates to join the ASU we will have a stronger voice for workers at Glen Eira City Council. It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online atΒ
