ASU Members are advised that last night, at the Council Meeting, it was decided to sell-off the three Residential Aged Care facilities in the City of Glen Eira (Spurway, Rosstown and Wirrawee aged care facilities).

The ASU was formally advised of this decision this morning via an email and a letter.

This totally unexpected decision was made done under a veil of secrecy as this was dealt with at the Council Meeting ‘in-camera’ (without the public being present). What is particularly disturbing is that staff and the unions have been advised after the decision has been made without any chance to have a say or to influence the decision-makers. Whatever happened to accountability and transparency? Whatever happened to ‘genuine consultation’?

The ASU will be considering its options and will be seeking an urgent meeting with management and employees.  The letter provided to staff is available here.

If you wish to discuss this matter please contact ASU Branch Organiser David Nunns on mobile 0418 856 495 or the ASU Member Contact Centre on 1300 855 570.
