Following overwhelming endorsement from our members for the 2.5% one-year rollover agreement, ASU has advised Gippsland Water that we have now reached in-principle agreement.
This means Gippsland Water management can now lodge documents with the state government for approval, and your pay rise will not be delayed.
The parties are still working on the final wording of the new agreement, but these discussions are around minor, technical details and compliance with Government policy.
Once the wording is agreed and the government has approved the document, it will then go to a ballot of all staff. If this ballot is successful, the Agreement will then need to go to the Fair Work Commission for approval. This could take several weeks, but your first payrise is locked in for 13 October this year. So if the Fair Work process goes beyond this date, your pay rise will be backdated to then.
The ASU and Gippsland Water have agreed to start bargaining for a new agreement as early as possible next year, so we will be kicking off the process again soon.
