Management at Derwent Valley Council has flagged with the ASU that they intend to address the issue of excessive leave balances amongst employees at Council. They have sent us a draft letter which they intend to send to employees with excessive leave.

The ASU has raised several concerns with the approach being taken and have pointed out a few areas of their proposed process where they may fail to adhere to the enterprise agreement.

All employees with more than 8 weeks of leave accrued will be receiving a letter asking them to reduce their leave balances urgently. The enterprise agreement requires that you be permitted to retain at least 6 weeks of your leave.

The ASU‘s Tasmanian Coordinator, Aaron De La Torre, is available to attend your meetings with management if you would like the ASU to represent you in these negotiations. Alternately, your ASU Delegates would be able to assist.

Your ASU Delegates are:
Alex Clarke – Works Depot
Jess Dallas – Council Chambers
Jo Townsend – Child Care

Don’t forget the ASU recruitment competition is underway until September, $500 is up for grabs for the member who recruits the most new people.
