February 1, 2012, was a momentous day for ASU members across Social and Community Services.
After a strong and united struggle, the ASU won the Equal Pay Case and campaign.
You are all invited to a celebratory occasion to mark this moment in time and say in one loud and proud voice… Equal Pay here to stay.
DATE: Friday 31 January
VENUE: Torque Room, 26 Jessie Street, Coburg
With February 1, 2020, fast approaching, it’s time to reflect, celebrate and remind ourselves of the significance of this historic win, to the membership, sector and very people this sector is here for.
ASU officials will bring along morning tea and provide an update on Equal Pay, as we enter the last year of the phased-in implementation. We’ll also provide a briefing on a recent threat to Equal Pay – the Morrison Federal Government’s lack of commitment to funding Equal Pay rates beyond 2020. This places jobs and services at high risk, with a potential annual funding shortfall of $550 million nationally.
We need to stand together again, to keep taking the sector forward, not backwards! We’ll provide an update on union members’ actions happening across the country to Save Equal Pay.
Now is the perfect time to ask a co-worker to stand with us to Save Equal Pay.
Share this email with your co-workers and ask them to join the ASU today.
It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
