ASU Organiser Ian Richardson met with St John Ambulance management and the bargaining team for the latest round of bargaining for your new enterprise agreement on Wednesday 3 August.

Management tabled their first draft of the new agreement.

The wording of the dispute resolution clause is still under discussion with management still wanting to remove the wording “any other significant work-related matter”. ASU opposes this reduction of an entitlement.

The probation period will be shortened to 3 months, with a maximum of 6 months in specific circumstances.

The final wording of a Workload Management clause is still under discussion.

Once again, ASU has requested the Consultation clause be amended to “before a final decision has been made” to allow for true consultation, rather than simply notification.

Management is still pushing for an increase in the notice period employees must give on resignation.

We’re still waiting on a wages offer from management. Our position is 5%, or March quarter Hobart CPI, or the minimum wage increase percentage from Fair Work, whichever is the greater.

The new position classifications, descriptors and pay rates were tabled as part of the draft. We will review these once copies are provided to us.

We are still pushing for 3 days of Union Delegate Leave per Delegate. Management is only offering 3 days for all delegates. They will consider our request if wording is included to limit the numbers that can access the leave at any one time. Whilst this is unnecessary, we will look at what they propose at the next meeting.

We will continue to meet with management to progress negotiations on your key claims and will come back to you with further updates as they become available.
