Petitions are being signed, members are being called, letterboxing is under way and calls are being made to Hobson’s Bay and Maribyrnong Councillors. Our goal is for the community to apply maximum pressure on Councillors poised to make a call on whether they subcontract out care. This work is making an impact and could save your job too.

Please join us to hear more about actions to date and our Federal election Campaign plan.

ASU home care network meeting

DATE: Tuesday 5 February
TIME: 6pm – 8pm
VENUE: ASU Offices, 116 Queensberry St, Carlton South

In a bid to hold Melbourne Councils together as aged care providers officials and members have met with;

  • Katie Hall member for Footscray
  • Ingrid Stitt Upper House Member for Western Metropolitan
  • Melissa Horne Member for Williamstown and
  • Tim Watts Federal Member for Gellibrand
  • Held discussions with Bill Shorten the Federal Opposition Leaders office

Support for Councils maintaining their role in aged care has been evident in all discussions to date.

We know that subcontracting care is bad for workers, bad for clients and bad for community.

We need to continue to work together to identify strategies that prevent the erosion of your employment security and conditions.

Please attend and invite your co-workers to discuss the future of your industry.

A home care network meeting is scheduled for the south eastern suburbs on the 21 of February and another tentatively scheduled for the South West (Geelong region) for Monday the 25th of February.

Please RSVP to Kath Tuari on 0448 981 585 or ktuari@asuvictas.com.au
