Today the Victorian Government announced the snap lockdown would end at 11.59 pm tonight but there will be some additional restrictions.

The new restrictions will have an impact on us all at work. If you are concerned about your safety at work or your employer’s response to the new restrictions, the ASU Member Contact Centre or a Health and Safety Representative at your workplace will be able to provide you with advice or assistance. You can contact the ASU Member Contact Centre at info@asuvictas.com.au or 1300 855 570.

Tomorrow students will return to school, and workers may attend on-site as required. On-site office work is capped at no more than 50 per cent of a workforce on-site (both public and private sectors). It is still a requirement that each workplace must have a Covid Safe Plan.

From 11.59 pm tonight,  masks must also be worn inside (except in a residential home) and outdoors when it is not possible to maintain 1.5m physical distancing (unless a lawful exemption applies).

Full details of the restrictions that will be in place from 11.59 pm tonight are available here.

Finally, I want to thank every member of our unon. The 5-day snap lockdown has been a huge challenge, and I am particularly proud of workplace delegates who have done so much for ASU members since last Friday.
