As you would have heard yesterday, the vote results have come in, and in a show of strength, members have said ‘No’, voting down Manningham Council’s offer.
It is great to see members come together and be heard. This wouldn’t have been possible without your delegates who have been working hard for over a year to get a fair deal.
Our next steps will be getting back to bargaining with Council in good faith.
We look forward to working constructively to reach agreement and an offer that members feel values their hard work and that they can be proud of.
Like everyone, we want this to be an efficient process and the ‘No’ vote does not mean we have to start from scratch.
We are confident members would likely accept an offer that improved a couple of our key issues – members have been reasonable throughout this process and this would recognise their hard work and show them workers are recognised.
If you have a co-worker who has been unsure about joining, now is a great time! Together we are stronger. They can join the ASU at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
