What do a Disability Inclusion Advisor, a PVAW (Prevention of Violence Against Women) Trainer and a PVAW Project Officer all have in common?
Sophia Tipping, Belinda O’Connor and Julia Earley are all ASU delegates at the currently merging DVRCV and DVVic!
Delegates have been involved in consultation with the two organisations around the merge for over a year.
The strength and hard work of current and former delegates have ensured genuine consultation occurs, and member feedback is given consideration before decisions are made.
Because a merger with a peak organisation is not common in the sector, delegates haven’t had a copy and paste template to navigate the major change.
Delegates have shown creativity and resourcefulness when mapping out feedback and input. Keeping members engaged in consultation over such a long period has been a big credit to these and recent delegates.
Delegates are making sure both organisations consult with ASU members about job losses, enterprise agreement bargaining timelines, merger and change timelines, workforce development, location, structure and organisational culture and values.
Delegates have been integral to communications with both the board and CEOs and at regular meetings between the ASU and CEOs.
The key message here is: committed delegates getting trained and organised is the best way to ensure the best outcome for impacted members during major organisational change.
