The ASU recently met with John Baker and Jenny Van Riel to discuss council’s decision to commence the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Aged Care and Disability Services.
The ASU are holding a members meeting for Direct Care Workers to discuss any concerns you may have in relation to Mornington’s decision. The union office will also provide an update on what ASU are doing regarding Council Aged Care Services at Mornington Peninsula Shire and industry wide.
This meeting will be held:
DATE: Thursday 11 April
TIME: 4.30pm – 5.30pm
VENUE: Mornington Library, Room 1, Vancouver Street, Mornington
For members’ background, during the meeting with council they stated that they have not made any final decision regarding a future commitment to continuing services. However, by progressing a Request for Proposal the ASU is clear that your employer is looking to see what other options are available in the market. The end result of a RFP process could be to outsource or contract out services, or another outcome that jeopardises members’ jobs or existing terms and conditions.
In light of what has occurred recently at Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay Councils the ASU is ensuring we utilise every opportunity we have to influence Councils’ decisions. We’re fighting to Stop Cuts to Aged Care and Keep It Council!
We encourage all MP Shire’s Aged Care and Disability Services workers to attend, as we need to stand together now more than ever.
Strength in Unity!
