ASU members have advised of staff receiving a proposal from Devonport City Council management to propose “rolling over” the existing agreement. The ASU has written to the General Manager, Matthew Atkins. You can view the letter here.

Meeting times will be established and you will be advised, but in the interim, your union recommends that members DO NOT respond to the proposal until we meet so that you have all the details of what accepting could cost you.

Such a move is outside of the bargaining in good faith provisions and disrespects legislation introduced to give employees the right to negotiate a fair and equitable Enterprise Agreement for all involved.

After speaking with Matthew Atkins, we understand that the DCC has requested that staff provide a response to the proposal by Tuesday 11 July. We have advised more time is required to give the ASU an opportunity to meet with staff.

This is a crucial time in local government and at your workplace, talk to a colleague about the importance of union membership and ask them to join the ASU at https://asujoin.asn.au/
