EA talks were recently entered into with DCC. While talks were entered, they were hardly negotiations. DCC rejected all claims of monetary value, even those that would benefit the council in the long term.
DCC now claim that discussions are at an impasse and wish to put the agreement out to vote. The ASU wrote to DCC with our concerns about the bargaining process and requested they meet with the ASU and staff representatives to discuss this further. Parties met on Thursday, where it was reiterated to DCC that we wish to continue bargaining. DCC rejected the proposal and confirmed that they intend to put the agreement out to vote and if a negative vote was the result, the existing agreement would continue for its natural term and negotiations would recommence next year for a new agreement.
The ASU has lodged a ‘good faith bargaining dispute’ against DCC for their actions but this still may not stop the EA from going to vote.
We need you to VOTE NO so that we can get DCC back to the table in a process where you can act and be protected by good faith bargaining provisions.
We need to stand united and show DCC that we will not be bullied into accepting an inferior agreement. We need everyone onboard so encourage your workmates to join the ASU and unite to fight for better wages & conditions: https://asujoin.asn.au/
