Sue Bratby is a dedicated ASU delegate at Maribyrnong City Council where she works within the Parks and Gardens Team.
An ASU member ever since commencing her employment with Maribyrnong Council 30 years ago, Sue saw joining the ASU was “just automatic”. Coming from a family where her mum was a union delegate, unionism was ingrained in family values from a young age.
Not only does Sue work tirelessly in her union delegate capacity, which she has done for the last 3 years, she has also been a long standing HSR for her department.
When asked why she stepped up into these important workplace roles, Sue explanation shows her dedication to workplace safety.
“I saw managers stopping work of Health and Safety Representatives, claiming issues were better dealt with in other forums. So I thought I need to get onto those committees to make sure that issues weren’t getting swept under the carpet”
Sue plays an active role in EBA negotiations and participating in consultative and OHS committees within the workplace. And she is an asset to the ASU because she always has members’ best interests at heart.
