Kerry Davies stepped up as the only delegate in her family violence team at the Salvation Army.
Kerry is passionate about creating a better world and improving the lives of women and children experiencing family violence.
Kerry is just as passionate about helping her colleagues and union members to understand their workplace rights.
She also sees educating her workmates and management on the role of the union as an important part of her job as a delegate.
Recruiting new members to the union is regular business for Kerry, with an unprecedented increase in union members in her team since she stepped into the role as an ASU delegate. As part of this role, Kerry often presents on the value of ASU membership at staff inductions.
Adding to her role supporting workmates as an ASU Delegate, Kerry Davies was recently elected as one of the ASU’s Branch Conference delegates. Kerry is keen to use this role to provide input and feedback into the Branch’s broader direction.
Kerry knows the important role of unions beyond the workplace in delivering on big changes that improve the lives of working people, pointing out that big changes like marriage equality were won by engaged community activists and unions.
Kerry is leaving her current work team soon to head to a new role in family violence elsewhere with the Salvo’s.
Kerry will leave a valuable legacy of union activism with her previous team and is excited about taking her passion for unionism to a new role and team and continuing to grow the union!
