Yesterday, Thursday 30 July 2020, ASU Tasmanian Coordinator (Aaron De La Torre), National Assistant Secretary (Linda White) and your delegates met with Qantas management to continue discussions relating to the proposed redundancies amongst the Team Leader roles in the Hobart Premium Contact Centre.
The ASU is disgusted by the decision to reduce the Team Leader positions by more than 25% and we are genuinely concerned about the ability for the remaining Team Leaders to be able to complete the requirements of their role and provide the support and guidance that members of their teams require.
We are also highly concerned about the decision to remove the Team Leader position from the Team Coach team and leave them without the leadership of guidance. We believe that this may be a reason for the Team Coach position to be reclassified and as such we have asked Qantas to investigate this before making any final decisions around the Team Leader positions.
We raised a number of concerns that were presented to us via our survey, so thank you to those who completed that. We received responses from a lot of our members which meant we had some really strong evidence given over 50% of the Consultants in the Hobart office responded.
We believe that there are a number of significant issues which need to be reviewed and addressed before Qantas can make a final decision and we were successful in getting them to consider these before starting the Expression of Interest process.
We will continue to fight, by your side, to save these jobs and will keep you in the loop as we progress with these consultations. Qantas does seem determined to push on with their decision but we are hopeful that we can make them see some sense and avoid them making another bad decision.
