Around 35 members have been underpaid amounts of up to $22,000 in shift and overtime rates over the last six years. The company has manually calculated the backpays and will be paying them over the next couple of weeks – the payments are mainly due to people working afternoon or night shift on weekends. If you are not happy with the company’s explanation of your individual payout contact the union so we can make sure you don’t miss out.
REDEPLOYMENTS AND REDUNDANCIES
Citywide lost the Melbourne parking meters contract and the Whittlesea open space contract and some members have redeployed others will be offered redundancy. Any member not sure of their rights or entitlements should contact their ASU Delegate or ASU Organiser Tony White on 0437 834 615.
PORTABLE LONG SERVICE LEAVE
Citywide will be back in court on 19 February seeking to avoid paying portable long service leave to members working on footpath and road reconstruction. We are hopeful that they will lose and will keep you posted on the outcome.
Reminder we are looking at one big Enterprise Agreement covering all Citywide and Anzac Day is the reminder when we need to start putting away a few dollars each week in case workers get their pay docked just for having meetings like last time.
