Fixed Term Contract and Agency staff
As reported in the last ASU update, the ASU have continuously raised concerns around CoPP not engaging agency staff in line with the provisions of the enterprise agreement, and several fixed-term employees engaged unlawfully who should be converted to permanent roles.
As a result of these questions being asked and raised by your delegates and the ASU, 14 Fixed Term Contracts are going to be converted permanent roles. This is a WIN that would not have happened without your delegates and the ASU holding CoPP accountable.
CoPP committed to further discussions around the use of agency staff. We have advised this matter is still in dispute are yet to have further discussions.
Several issues were raised at a recent Children’s Services members meeting. A meeting with management, ASU and delegates will be held next Tuesday to go through these. A report back will be provided to members after this.
Parking enforcement and school crossing supervisors have had their full hours reinstated.
Libraries, however, continue to be rostered with a reduced FTE. Given library staff have been on a reduced roster for 6 months, largely part-time and some of Councils lowest-paid workers the ASU have asked CoPP to maintain the wages of workers given the gap in FTE is only 1.5. Council unsurprisingly rejected this request.
