ASU Members at the City of Monash are currently having their enterprise agreement negotiated with the union and management agreeing to a number of important claims.

These important claims include:

  • five days of paid compassionate or bereavement leave on each occasion (up from 4 days),
  • the inclusion of disciplinary matters in the disputes procedure so that disputed warnings can be referred to the Fair Work Commission for independent review, and
  • a six-month redeployment phase for employees facing possible redundancy (with access to the redundancy package in that time period if things don’t work out).

These are matters that are outstanding from the previous negotiations in 2016 and are most welcome.

However, other important matters like end of band payments, paid parental leave, and redundancy payments will be the subject of further negotiation.
