Congratulations to ASU members and delegates who campaigned for the City of Melbourne’s un-agreed and substandard EA proposal to be rejected.

Of the 1192 votes cast, 879 employees voted NO to reject CoM’s proposed agreement and only 313 voted YES.

This was a resounding victory for your strong campaign.

ASU members have been bargaining in good faith and had put forward some good proposals to the City of Melbourne.

The main concerns for members in the vote were:

  1. Pay Equity – with CoM maintaining an unequal two tier system
  2. Redundancy – unfair stripping of options
  3. Wages – unagreed CoM offer 2%

Next Steps

We will continue pushing for an enterprise agreement that is fair for workers at the City of Melbourne.  And the strong rejection of management’s proposal will be important to future discussions.

However, we are Stronger Together – encourage your workmates to join the ASU so we have stronger voice for workers at CoM. It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at
