Congratulations on the strong turnout and endorsement of the Enterprise Agreement. This Enterprise Agreement is the result of union members activism and persistence.
Just a few months ago, CoM was refusing to pay back pay for 2019 and 2020. Union members got management back to the negotiating table and negotiated a fair wage outcome.
Under this endorsed EA, most CoM workers will receive thousands of dollars in back pay.
Our work as a union is not done. The EA still contains a fundamentally unjust pay structure in which workers employed prior to 2017 (Schedule AA) are paid different rates to those employed more recently (Schedule A).
Over the coming months, we will be working with Schedule A members to campaign for a fair Remuneration Policy that recognises the skills, experience and contribution of Schedule A employees.
