We wrote to you yesterday with an update about the enterprise agreement. You can find that update here.

In addition to our work at the negotiation table, the ASU is also raising the unfairness of the wage offer with the City of Melbourne Councillors. The Councillors are the ultimate decision-maker about how much money is allocated for staff wages through the Draft Budget 2021/22.

The ASU has made a submission as part of the public consultation process for the Draft Budget 2021/22. Our submission makes the point that the Lord Mayor’s big-spending budget has prioritised rate deferments, subsidized dining initiatives and an expensive ‘Greenline’ footpath over its own workers, who have waited three years for a pay rise.

You can find the full submission here.

We have also registered to present our submission to the Councillors at a Future Melbourne meeting at the end of June. The ASU will be taking the message directly to the Councillors, that it’s time to Un-Capp our Wages!
