The City of Melbourne has put a new element of the offer on the table.
They are now offering a one-off payment. The payment is pro-rata for part-time workers.
CoM advise that this is a recognition payment for hard work during 2020. There is no recognition payment for 2019.
This money is not a pay rise and will not be incorporated in part of your ongoing wage. They have reiterated their position that management will not offer back pay.
While it is encouraging that the City of Melbourne has slightly moved their position and found the extra money to fund this (despite previous advice that they couldn’t afford anything further), it does not address the problem that wages have not kept pace with the cost of living.
ASU delegates will consider this offer in good faith and respond at the next meeting on Thursday.
We encourage you to contact your ASU delegates or ASU Organiser Zoe Edwards with your views.
We will be sharing more analysis of this offer over the next couple of days. We are still waiting on key information about costings from the City of Melbourne.
