The ASU and your ASU delegate team had their second EA meeting of the second round of bargaining last Thursday 24 October.
Nothing has changed, CoM again have refused to withdraw their claim proposing to change the present EA clauses in regard to redeployment and Voluntary redundancy.
Council’s rationale is, when they propose to make your position redundant, they will decide on a new position for you, taking away your right to choose redeployment and redundancy, if you don’t take the position you will terminate yourself with no redundancy payout.
Schedule A staff; Nothing has changed, CoM have completely chosen to ignore your concerns and put no proposals on the table to fix this mess that they created other than compare you to other metro Councils salary scales who don’t have any CBD to compete with.
Wage increases; Nothing has changed CoM proposing 2% increases per year for the three-year agreement.
The CEO attended this EA meeting to get a better understanding from bargaining reps around the table of their concerns.
This is after four months of bargaining which CoM shutdown, they put the bad not agreed EA out to a vote which they lost miserably and wasted another bucket of money promoting it, the CEO has attended three months of the round table meeting with staff to listen to your concerns obliviously with his ear plugs still in as he did not hear you.
The CEO still does not understand and is still not listening to your concerns!
The ASU and ASU bargaining reps have decided to strike back and get the CEO and CoM to listen and hear your concerns.
ASU Delegates have decided to make an application to FWC for a Protected Industrial Action Ballot of all members to enable members to take a range of Protected Industrial Actions at the workplace.
It will be fun as one of the protected actions will be wearing ear muffs/plugs.
ASU Bargaining reps will continue to attend bargaining meetings and update members through further newsletters and information in regard to the Protected Industrial Action Ballot process.
It is only ASU members that can legally engage in Protected Industrial Action, so now is the time to join your union and unite with other members to get a fair and equitable outcome.
