At the recent ASU member meetings, we discussed our letter sent to the General Manager raising concerns around a number of issues, including the transformation, rumoured redundancies and work health and safety to name a few.

The General Manager responded to these and other concerns we raised at the consultative committee meeting on 17 May 2022 and then followed up in writing. Kelly has requested her written response be provided to our members. You can view the response here.

The ASU will ask further questions relating to the items which we do not believe have been fully addressed. The General Manager has advised she is always open to discussing concerns.

We encourage you to contact your Organiser, Karen, or one of your ASU Delegates if you have any concerns.

We’ve been made aware that Council is reviewing services and that they need to actively scale up, particularly in the outdoor workforce and the construction teams. Council has committed to filling the road maintenance vacancies as soon as possible. Additionally, Council will be reviewing and benchmarking staff salaries and will provide a timeline for when this will occur.

The ASU will hold further meetings over the coming weeks to provide a more in-depth update and to discuss electing further ASU Delegates.

Interested in becoming a Delegate? Please feel free to contact either Karen (on the contact details below) or one of your current ASU Delegates for further information.

Have a colleague who isn’t a member? Ask them to join and you both go into the running to each win a $200 fuel voucher. Join here: https://www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
