It’s time to celebrate the work of ASU Delegates and members in delivering good pay outcomes for all employees at the City of Darebin.

In your next pay packet, you will receive either a 2% or $30 per week increase, whichever is higher.

Your bargaining representatives were able to lock this deal in until 2022! At a time when economic uncertainty was already shaky. More recently, we have been hit with the flow on economic impacts of devastating bushfires and a global pandemic, so it is good to know that the security provisions within your Enterprise Agreement will prevail through these difficult times.

Congratulations Darebin union members.

Unionised workforces receive higher wage outcomes and entitlements than those that are not unionised.

ASU Delegates and members have advocated and achieved better conditions and entitlements for all Darebin Local Government employees including a good pay increase.

More members lead to more effective negotiations and improved outcomes for everyone. Union members hear an alternative perspective to their employer’s views and gain a broader industry perspective on their wages and conditions. Ultimately it takes a union majority in the workplace to vote no to an agreement and prevent erosion of conditions. Union members stood resolute throughout the most recent bargaining to ensure the protection of entitlements and conditions prevailed! Well Done.

As always, the ASU is by your side. Talk to a non-member today about where your pay increase came from. It is easy for them to join online at

ASU Officials and Delegates continue to meet management regularly getting updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to return to work of what will be the new normal, also making sure you are consulted on any proposed changes through your HSRs and ASU Delegates.

Don’t forget that the ASU recruitment competition is underway until September, $500 is up for grabs for the member who recruits the most new people.
