Childcare delegates across local government are invited to a meeting via Microsoft Teams for updates and discussions on managing your work at this difficult time, share their concerns and discuss changes in Federal Government funding.
DATE: Thursday 30 April
The meeting is for all delegates and interested members are encouraged to attend particularly from centres which do not have an ASU delegate.
At the last meeting, members and delegates were asked to discuss the claims with members in their workplace, we look forward to hearing your feedback on these discussions.
To recap, at our last meeting a summary of our claims was developed. The ASU has written to CEOs with this information requesting members claims be met.
Members agreed that we need to have a consistent ask and approach in each Councils and came up with the following set of claims demanding Councils commit to:
- Normal pay to be maintained (without using not leave) in the event of a childcare shutdown
- Alternative duties for workers who fall in the high-risk group defined by DHHS. If alternative duties cannot be found, special COVID-19 leave to be provided
- Extra PPE provided to staff who are in the high-risk group
- Hazardous pay to be paid to Educators in the frontline who are at increased risk
We look forward to meeting with you.
Health and Safety Representatives – know who they are and keep in touch with them about any Occupational Health and Safety issues. We look forward to hearing back about how this went
