In early April the State Government announced major changes affecting the workforce at VicRoads. In short, all employees who are not part of Registration & Licensing are to be transferred across to The Department of Transport on 1 July this year.
The ASU has serious concerns about what this will mean for members, and with the deadline looming there is still a lot of information that has not been provided.
We still don’t know exactly who will be going across to the Department of Transport and we do not know exactly what the new VicRoads structure will look like.
We have met with senior management at VicRoads to express our concerns, and we have written to ministers Jaala Pulford and Jacinta Allan, as well as Treasurer Tim Pallas and Premier Dan Andrews, seeking assurances about the future of the Registration & Licensing workforce.
ASU representatives will meet with senior management again next week, at the VicRoads consultative committees, where we expect to be provided with more information. We will update members as soon as new information becomes available.
During this period of change the ASU will continue providing workplace information, services and individual support to members.
